Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of large language models(LLMs)in standard-ized residency training for Medical Oncology residents.Methods A total of 43 residents undergoing standardized training in the Department of Medical Oncology,the First Medical Center of Chinese PLA General Hospital between February and December 2023 were randomly assigned to two groups.The control group received conventional teaching,while the experimental group was trained with LLMs-assisted instruction.Clinical competency was assessed by departmental exit examinations,criti-cal thinking ability was measured using the Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory,and teaching satis-faction was evaluated via questionnaire survey.Results The experimental group achieved significantly higher total scores in exit examinations compared with the control group[(77.22±7.51)vs.(68.30±7.69),t=3.843,P<0.001],with the prominent improvement presented in case analysis[(30.04±4.85)vs.(22.50±5.21),t=4.918,P<0.001].No difference was observed in basic theoretical knowl-edge between the two groups.The total score of critical thinking ability was significantly higher in the experimental group[(299.35±21.62)vs.(229.00±16.13),t=11.939,P<0.001].Specifically,the experimental group exhibited significantly superior scores in multiple critical thinking dimensions,in-cluding truth-seeking[(44.04±6.41)vs.(37.15±5.05),t=3.876,P<0.001],open-mindedness[(46.78±5.66)vs.(26.10±6.24),t=11.400,P<0.001],analyticity[(46.39±5.54)vs.(25.65±3.87),t=14.019,P<0.001],systematicity[(47.35±5.47)vs.(32.15±7.9),t=7.397,P<0.001],and inquisitiveness[(41.30±5.05)vs.(34.85±5.15),t=4.141,P<0.001].Furthermore,residents in the experimental group reported higher satisfaction with LLMs-assisted teaching.Conclusions LLMs serve as an effective and innovative educational tool that significantly enhances clinical practice capabil-ity and critical thinking ability,with improved resident satisfaction in standardized residency training for medical oncology residents.关键词
