Abstract
Objective:To compare the sensitivity of quantitative parameters of multimodal images in assessing intrahepatic fat content, and the correlations of that with body mass index(BMI)and the indicators of laboratory examinations. Methods:Data were collected from 37 patients who underwent computed tomography(CT),magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),and laboratory examinations at the Beijing Rehabilitation Hospital,Capital Medical University between October 2023 and October 2024.The proton density fat-fraction(PDFF)values,in-phase and opposed-phase fat-fraction(IOFF)values,and liver-to-spleen ratio(CTL/S)values of right lobe, left lobe and caudate lobe, and the average value of three lobes of each patient were measured and calculated.Paired Wilcoxon rank-sum tests were used to compare the differences of quantitative parameters of imaging among different liver lobes.Pearson correlation test was performed to analyze the relationships among different quantitative parameters of imaging, and among these quantitative parameters and laboratory indicators included BMI,total cholesterol,triglycerides,low-density lipoprotein,high-density lipoprotein, and glycated hemoglobin. Results:The PDFF value(8.24±5.84)%of the caudate lobes was significantly higher than(10.06±5.83)%of the right lobes,and(9.89±5.66)%of the left lobes, and the differences were statistically significant(Z=2.844,2.768,P<0.05).The IOFF values of the right lobes, left lobes and caudate lobes were respectively(10.44±8.21)%,(10.20±7.14)%and(10.18±6.39)%,and there were not significant differences among them(P>0.05).The CTL/S values of the right, left and caudate lobes were respectively 1.03±0.25,1.10±0.32 and 1.18±0.27,and the differences of CTL/S values were significant between the right lobes and the left lobes, and between the right lobes and the caudate lobes, and between the left lobes and the caudate lobes(Z=2.892,4.393,2.719,P<0.05).There was a high correlation between the average PDFF value and the average IOFF value(r=0.814,P=0.000),a moderate correlation between the average PDFF value and the average CTL/S value(r=-0.646,P=0.000),and a moderate correlation between the average IOFF value and the average CTL/S value(r=-0.573,P=0.000).For cases with mild increase of hepatic fat content, the CTL/S value showed a higher false-negative rate. For cases with moderate to severe increase of hepatic fat content, the IOFF value showed a higher false-positive rate. The PDFF values of the right lobe, left lobe and caudate lobe, and the average PDFF value of them,as well as the IOFF value of the left lobe, were weakly correlated with low-density lipoprotein or triglycerides.Conclusion:Multi-modal imaging technique can qualitatively and quantitatively assess intrahepatic fat content.Among of these, the PDFF value of quantitative parameters has higher sensitivity, which has potential value as biomarker for liver fat content.关键词
