Application progress of focused ultrasound in the treatment of allergic rhinitis
摘要
Abstract
Allergic rhinitis(AR)is an IgE-mediated chronic noninfectious inflammatory disease of nasal mucosa,with rising global prevalence.Standardized four-in-one comprehensive protocols for prevention and treatment can effectively control symptoms of most patients with mild AR.However,refractory AR is commonly associated with poor medication adherence,and the effect of conservative treatment for that is limited.Persistent recurrent symptoms can markedly impair patients'quality of life and impose an economic burden on public health Focused ultrasound(FUS)can produce targeted submucosal coagulative ablation via thermal,mechanical and cavitation effects,which can feature advantages include minimal invasiveness,repeatable administration,and preservation of physiological structure of epithelial cilia in nasal cavity.FUS has gradually been applied in surgical intervention for AR.This review systematically sorted out the pathophysiological mechanisms that FUS treats AR,application effects of that in differently clinical scenario,perioperative adverse events and safety data.In addition,this review horizontally compared the clinical advantages and disadvantages among FUS and conventional turbinate surgery with coblation and radiofrequency,and hormonal medicines,and summarized the existing technical drawbacks at present.Finally,it looked ahead to future directions of development through combined with research and development of apparatuses,and the research progress of individual parameters.This review can provide evidence-based references for the rational clinical selection of FUS regimens to treat refractory AR.关键词
