Research on the impact of innovation-driven policies on green innovation capability of coastal enterprises:taking the establishment of a marine economy innovation and development demonstration city as an example

Abstract
This study examines the impact of marine economy innovation and development demonstration cities on the green innovation capacity of enterprises in coastal cities.Utilizing data from A-share listed firms in 53 coastal prefecture-level and above cities(excluding the Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan regions,the same applies below)in China from 2012 to 2022,this paper empirically evaluates the policy effects.The findings indicate that the implementation of marine economy innovation and development demonstration cities significantly enhance the green innovation capacity of coastal enterprises,a conclusion that remains robust after a series of rigorous tests.Heterogeneity analysis reveals that the policy effect is more pronounced for large-scale enterprises,state-owned enterprises,and highly leveraged firms.Mechanism analysis demonstrates that the marine economy innovation and development demonstration cities policy boosts corporate green innovation capacity by increasing R&D expenditure.This research provides critical empirical evidence and theoretical support for the government to continue promoting marine economy innovation and development demonstration cities initiatives,strengthen policy implementation,and achieve high-quality development driven by enterprise innovation.关键词
