Breeding and Application of Indica CMS Line Nantai A with High Quality and Resistance to Rice Blast

Abstract
Nantai A is an indica cytoplasmic male sterile(CMS)line developed by Rice Research Institute of Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences through combining conventional breeding and molecular marker-assisted selection breeding technology by introducing the major rice blast resistance gene Pi-2 into the maintainer line Shen 95B/Taifeng B and crossing it with Zhenshan 97A.It was selected and bred through 7 generations of backcrossing.In June 2024,it passed the technical appraisal of Guangdong Seed Association.This sterile line has the characteristics of good rice blast resistance,high grain quality,stable fertility,good flowering habit,high outcrossing seed-setting rate,and high combining ability.Many combinations derived from Nantai A participated in Guangdong provincial regional trials or consortium regional trials.Among them,Nantaiyou 698 and Nantaiyou Jinsimiao have been approved by Guangdong Provincial Crop Variety Appraisal Committee.关键词
