Abstract
Dry eye disease(DED),as a common multifactorial ocular surface disease,is primarily characterized by the loss of tear film stability,ocular surface inflammation,and abnormal neural sensation.Its etiology and pathogenesis are complex.Among the numerous pathogenic mechanisms,meibomian gland dysfunction(MGD)is regarded as one of the core pathological links.Abnormal meibomian gland secretions lead to instability in the lipid layer of the tear film,accelerating tear evaporation and subsequently triggering or exacerbating dry eye symptoms.intense pulsed light(IPL)therapy,a physical intervention method widely used in the field of dry eye treatment in recent years,has multiple mechanisms of action.It includes melting abnormal meibomian gland secretions through photothermal effects,dredging meibomian gland ducts,inhibiting local inflammatory reactions,reducing the inflammatory environment of the ocular surface,exerting antibacterial effects,improving the meibomian microecology,and promoting tissue repair and cellular function recovery through photobiomodulation.Therefore,IPL has become an effective physical method for treating MGD-related dry eye.However,IPL focuses on local and physical interventions,and its regulatory ability for systemic functional disorders that may underlie dry eye(such as endocrine disorders,immune dysfunction,autonomic nervous system dysfunction,liver and kidney function status,and emotional factors)is relatively limited.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)treatment for dry eye emphasizes holistic concepts and syndrome differentiation,with a rich array of treatment methods,including oral and external use of TCM,acupuncture and moxibustion,massage,etc.,which are adept at regulating internal balance.In recent years,the combination of IPL and TCM treatments has formed a promising integration model of localized precision intervention in Western medicine and overall systemic conditioning in TCM,thereby demonstrating synergistic effects and becoming a frontier hotspot in the field of combined Western and TCM treatment for dry eye.This article aims to systematically review the clinical efficacy of various TCM treatments combined with IPL for dry eye,providing a reference for clinicians in specific treatments.关键词
