Numerical Simulation of Die Forging Process for Fe-Ni-Al Maraging Steel Under Different Temperatures and Press Speeds

Abstract
Maraging steel is widely used in industries,aerospace,national defense,and other fields due to its high hardness,excellent wear resistance,and good heat resistance.Its strength and toughness are governed by the die forging process,while the blank temperature and the die press speed are critical factors constraining the quality of the forgings.In this study,the Deform-3D software was used to numerically simulate the temperature field,the dynamic recrystallization,the stress-strain field,and the damage during the die forging process of maraging steel by changing the billet temperature and the reduction rate of the die.Based on the simulation results,the die forging process was formulated.The results indicate that when the temperature increases from 900 ℃ to 1 100 ℃,and at a press speed of 100 mm/s,the volume fraction of dynamic recrystallization rises by 7.0%,the equivalent strain increases by 0.019,and the equivalent stress decreases by 121 MPa.Considering all factors,a temperature of 1 100 ℃ and a press speed of 100 mm/s are more suitable for the die forging.关键词
