考虑压实作用并基于14C年龄评估原始沉积速率
Assessment of initial sedimentation rates based on 14C ages with compaction correction
摘要
Abstract
The age and thickness of Quaternary sediments are critical for assessing original sedimentation rates and reconstructing paleoenvironmental changes.However,compaction-induced thickness distortion can reduce the accuracy of such assessments. This study integrates 14C and optically stimulated luminescence(OSL)dating, borehole data, and geotechnical parameters to estimate sediment ages and correct deposition thickness by calculating compaction-induced thickness differences, thereby reevaluating the original sedimentation rates. The study reveals that the original sedimentation rates in this region have shown fluctuations since the Holocene.Three peaks were identified in the Early Holocene(10.01±0.39 ka),early Middle Holocene(8.03±0.41 ka),and late Middle Holocene(6.14±0.26 ka)with sedimentation rates of 743.6 mm/100 a,948.1 mm/100 a,and 2 369.6 mm/100 a,respectively. This indicates that the Shengze area has experienced at least three significant episodes of vertical crustal movement since the Holocene, with increasing rates and magnitudes of movement.Sedimentation rates can partly reflect the intensity of regional geological processes. The two major sedimentation rate peaks correspond to transgression events during the Early Holocene(11.7~10 ka)and the Mid-Holocene(6 ka). These findings highlight the importance of incorporating compaction effects in reconstructing original sedimentation rates for studies of crustal vertical movement and regional geological history.关键词
