FIRE Youth:Group Characteristics,Formation Mechanisms and Support Pathways

Abstract
The term"FIRE Youth"refers to young people who embrace the FIRE lifestyle,pursue financial independence,and strive for early retirement before the age of 35.Relying on practical avenues to achieve financial independence and the psychological desire for early retirement,this group has forged a distinctive way of life that differs from the paths of involution,lying flat,and"45-Degree Youth".The formation of the FIRE Youth group stems from intertwined compound driving forces,including individual survival demands,uncertainties triggered by the pandemic,workplace and social pressures,and the spread of relevant communities via online media.Nevertheless,this lifestyle conceals multiple developmental dilemmas.To address this issue,it is necessary to comprehensively reshape four core psychological perceptions of young people:ontological security,self-efficacy,sustained sense of gain,and sense of value identity.Such measures can alleviate the practical predicaments faced by FIRE Youth,guide young people to establish rational outlooks on personal development,and encourage them to demonstrate youthful responsibility with a positive attitude in advancing Chinese-style modernization.关键词
