Abstract
Emerging media technologies represented by short videos grant public visibility while reshaping demands and realization paths for social recognition.Against the backdrop of platform economy and flexible employment, new employment groups increasingly demand social recognition, yet"being seen"does not automatically lead to"being recognized".Taking Chinese truck driver content creators as research subjects, this paper explores the mechanism of recognition practices for new employment groups through analyzing their short-video content production and audience interactions. The research finds that truck drivers express triple recognition demands in platform communication:emotional recognition,political/institutional recognition and social value recognition.Through continuous interactive negotiation and feedback confirmation, they gain responses and acknowledgement from families, fellow drivers, governance authorities and the general public, accomplishing the practical transformation from"being visible"to"being recognized".Nevertheless, platform content moderation, algorithmic recommendation and traffic allocation mechanisms impose structural constraints, including narrowed recognition topics, standardized expressive forms and compartmentalized recognition circles.Therefore,short-video platforms serve as crucial venues for new employment groups to pursue recognition, while fundamentally reshaping the conditions and boundaries for achieving social recognition.关键词
