Abstract
Technology plays differentiated roles in the evolution of village culture across historical periods.Drawing on Honneth's conception of modern labor, this study defines culture as integrated activities blending institutions, daily behaviors, local knowledge and indigenous experience. From the perspective of cultural labor,it interprets the relationship between rural cultural evolution and technology since the second half of the 20th century.Based on six years of participant observation and in-depth interviews focused on cultural activities in a single village, this paper concludes that traditional rural cultural forms are preserved through three types of labor:spontaneous individual activities, institutional collective events, and hybrid modes combining individuals and organizations. As exchanges between rural societies and the outside world normalize, cultural labor evolves in two ways.First,it becomes a rural"commodity"recognized with monetary compensation under market logic.Second,as traditional agricultural labor loses its dominant status in rural society, the position of cultural labor in daily rural life shifts from organization-led cultural activities under technology-isolated eras,to individual autonomy in technology-shaped labor periods, and finally to cross-group integration on technological platforms.Cultural labor thereby functions as a pivotal force shaping a new rural cultural order.关键词
