Research progress on strategies for enhancing the mechanical properties of biodegradable magnesium alloys for medical implants
摘要
Abstract
The elastic modulus of magnesium alloys is similar to that of human bone, which can effectively avoid the"stress shielding effect"and eliminate the need for secondary removal surgeries.Due to their excellent biocompatibility and degradability, magnesium alloys are commonly used in orthopedics and cardiovascular fields. However, their relatively low strength, limited ductility, and premature mechanical performance failure in vivo limit their widespread application in load-bearing bone implants. This review summarizes the research progress on improving the mechanical properties of magnesium alloys through alloying, heat treatment processes, and plastic deformation. It focuses on the influence mechanisms of different alloying elements, such as calcium, zinc, and strontium,on strength and plasticity through grain refinement, solid solution strengthening, and other mechanisms. The role of solution treatment(T4),aging treatment(T5,T6)in regulating microstructure and secondary phases is discussed.Additionally, the contributions of plastic deformation processes, such as hot extrusion and hot rolling,in refining grain size and optimizing texture are explored. Finally, future research directions are envisioned, including the combination of composite plastic deformation and heat treatment, the development of new alloy systems, and the use of additive manufacturing technologies to balance material strength, toughness, and mechanical integrity during degradation, aiming to provide theoretical references for the development of high-performance magnesium alloys for medical applications.关键词
