How does social feedback shape sharing intentions?The mediating role of interpersonal trust and the moderating role of emotional regulation self-efficacy

Abstract
Objective:Individuals engage in emotional sharing with others to express or vent their feelings,seeking emotional support and understanding.With the rise of social media,such interpersonal interactions have expanded to broader networks.How feedback from strangers influences subsequent sharing remains unexplored.Methods:Study 1 employed a between-subjects design with sharing intention as the dependent variable to examine the effects of social feedback types on sharing intention and the mediating role of interpersonal trust.Study 2 introduced emotional regu-lation self-efficacy as a moderator to test boundary conditions for the main effects.Results:Analysis of variance(ANOVA)in study 1 revealed no significant gender differences in interpersonal trust or sharing willingness.Positive feedback positively predicted sharing willingness(F=112.588,P＜0.001)and confirmed the mediating role of inter-personal trust with an effect size of 1.221.Study 2 again confirmed the significant main effect of social feedback(F=137.680,P＜0.001)and the significant main effect of emotional regulation self-efficacy on sharing willingness(F=15.984,P＜0.001).The interaction term between the two significantly influenced sharing willingness(F=9.087,P=0.003).It also confirmed the moderating effect of emotional regulation self-efficacy,establishing a mediated mod-eration model with a 95％confidence interval excluding zero:[-1.9559,-0.3034].Conclusion:In negative feedback contexts,individuals with high emotional regulation self-efficacy exhibit significantly higher sharing willingness than those with low levels,whereas this difference is insignificant in positive feedback contexts,providing insights for individual social behavior.关键词
