Experimental study on mechanical performance and design recommendation of spread foundations for onshore wind turbines

Abstract
To study the stress mechanism of the spread foundations of onshore wind turbines and clarify the influence of radial and circumferential reinforcement on their mechanical performance,five specimens were designed and manufactured,and edge uniform loading tests were carried out on the specimens.The failure modes,load-displacement curves,and bearing capacity of each specimen were systematically analyzed.The results show that,compared with the reference specimen designed according to the current code,appropriately increasing the circumferential reinforcement ratio can not only significantly improve the bearing capacity of the foundation,but also effectively delay the stiffness degradation in the elastic-plastic stage.Reducing the radial reinforcement ratio has little effect on the bearing capacity of the specimen.It shows that there is still room for optimization of radial reinforcement configured according to the current code.Based on the stress and deformation characteristics of the foundation,the internal force of the circular foundation under uniform load on the bottom plate was solved by using the medium-thick plate theory,and then the radial bending moment coefficient was derived to reasonably determine the radial and circumferential unit section resistance moment.In addition,by analyzing the variation of bending moment design values along the foundation radius R in the elastic stage,recommendations for segmental reinforcement design at the edge of the pedestal,0.4R,0.5R,and 0.6R sections were proposed.The comparison of calculation examples demonstrates that the design method offers significant economic advantages while ensuring the mechanical performance of the foundation.关键词
