ESG Performance,Green Innovation Quality,and Enterprise Value of Strategic Emerging Industries in Western China

Abstract
The western region of China serves as both an energy-rich area and an ecological barrier.As strategic emerging industries become a new engine of economic growth in the region,their green devel-opment performance is critical to achieving the regional"dual carbon"goals.This study contributes to exploring a distinctive green development pathway for industries in western China,characterized by green innovation as the driving force and ESG performance as the foundational support.This paper uti-lizes panel data from 12 provinces in western China from 2012 to 2024.It comprehensively applies the entropy weight method and a coupling coordination degree model to measure the coupling coordination level between ESG performance and green innovation quality in the strategic emerging industries of the western region.The Dagum Gini coefficient and its decomposition are used to characterize the spatio-temporal differentiation features of the coupling coordination level.Enterprise value is the core goal of business operations.To explore the value creation mechanism of synergistic development,this study em-pirically investigates the impact of coupling coordination degree on enterprise value.The findings reveal that both the ESG performance and green innovation quality of strategic emerging industries in western China,as well as their coupling coordination level,show a yearly increasing trend.The disparity in the coupling coordination level between ESG performance and green innovation quality is gradually narro-wing,indicating a trend toward synergistic development.The coupling coordination degree has a signifi-cant positive effect on corporate value,and this conclusion remains valid after robustness checks.关键词
