黄连及其相关经典方剂和配伍治疗溃疡性结肠炎研究
Research Progress of Coptidis Rhizoma and Its Related Classical Prescriptions and Compatibility in the Treatment of Ulcerative Colitis

Abstract
Ulcerative colitis(UC)is a chronic relapsing inflammatory bowel disease.Western medicine treatments have limitations in efficacy,whereas traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)demonstrates advantages such as multi-target effects and fewer adverse reactions.This article summarizes recent research progress on Huanglian(Coptidis Rhizoma)and its related classical formulas and herb pairings in treating UC.As a commonly used TCM herb for UC,the main active components of Huanglian(Coptidis Rhizoma)are alkaloids(e.g.,berberine,coptisine,palmatine,jatrorrhizine).These components exert anti-inflammatory,antioxidant,and metabolic regulatory effects by modulating multiple signaling pathways,such as interleukin-6(IL-6)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3)/nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB),phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K)/protein kinase B(Akt)/mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR),and nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)/heme oxygenase-1(HO-1).This modulation inhibits the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines,regulates intestinal microbiota balance,repairs the intestinal mucosal barrier,and improves immune cell imbalance.Modified classical formulas containing Huanglian(Coptidis Rhizoma),e.g.Baitouweng Decoction(白头翁汤),Wumei Pill(乌梅丸),Zuojin Pill(左金丸),Huanglian Ganjiang Decoction(黄连干姜汤)and specific herb pairings intervene in UC through multi-dimensional mechanisms:Baitouweng Decoction regulates immunity,restores barrier function,and inhibits oxidative stress;Wumei Pill balances T helper cell 17(Th17)/regulatory T cell(Treg)ratios,repairs mucosa,and exerts antioxidant effects;Zuojin Pill regulates immune cell differentiation and related signaling pathways;Huanglian Ganjiang Decoction modulates gut microbiota and metabolism,synergistically combating inflammation.Current research still faces challenges,including insufficient depth in understanding component mechanisms and bottlenecks in clinical translation.Future studies should focus on in-depth exploration of active components and conducting multi-center clinical trials to advance the application of Huanglian(Coptidis Rhizoma)and its related formulas in UC treatment.关键词
