The CPC's Analysis and Judgment on the Evolution of International Camps in the Early Stage of the National War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression

Abstract
The September 18th Incident severely undermined the Versailles-Washington System and initiated the differentiation of major world powers.In 1935,responding to the Seventh Congress of the Communist International,the CPC,based on its national nature,believed that the two major camps of peace and aggression had initially formed internationally.In the early stage of the National War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression,the CPC analyzed and judged the evolving dynamics of international blocs and advocated actively moving toward the camp of peace on the foundation of prolonged resistance.In early 1939,Britain,France,and the Soviet Union initiated cooperation ne-gotiations.However,the negotiations among the three countries yielded no results for a long time.The CPC actively refuted the surrenderist rhetoric arising from the stalemate in negotiations while al-so recognizing the unsatisfactory state of forming a stable peace camp.In August,the Soviet Union signed the Treaty of Non-Aggression Between the Soviet Union and Germany due to the lack of pro-gress in the three-way negotiations and the military threat from Japan,which caused significant changes in the division of the international camp,leading to a backlash in public opinion.Mao Ze-dong personally stepped forward to promote and explain this.Not only that,Mao Zedong also com-bined the domestic situation and comprehensively analyzed the new situation of the division and inte-gration of the international camp after the Treaty,broke through the original camp analysis frame-work,adopted a strategic and pragmatic attitude,based on the nature of war rather than national na-ture,re-examined the issue of the international camp,and ultimately concluded that the protracted resistance war had officially entered the stage of strategic stalemate.关键词
