Abstract
Driven by supportive national policies, diversified narrative themes, and continuous technological advances,im-mersive VR content has experienced rapid development. To dismantle"the fourth wall"convention of cinematic narration and shift users from passive observation to active participation,VR interactive narrative seeks to realize increasingly natu-ral interaction paradigms, thereby enhancing immersion and overall user experience. The development of eye-tracking technology brings new opportunities to this field. This paper systematically reviews contemporary gaze-based applications in VR interactive narratives and focuses on interaction design strategies. We implemented four gaze-based interactions—steering, switching, linking, and dragging—in a short VR film, and evaluated their effectiveness through a user study. Our findings indicate that, when thematically appropriate,gaze-based interaction,as a relatively natural form of input, can take various forms while effectively supporting narrative immersion, thereby providing VR content creators with actionable guid-ance and directions for optimizing interactive narrative design.关键词
