Abstract
To address the problem of burst failure of the reducer joint in the primary desuper-heating water pipeline of a boiler superheater that occurred after two and a half years of operation of a 150 MW ultra-high temperature subcritical gas-fired generator set in a steel plant, combined with on-site investigation, operating data, and flow parameter calculations, the failure mechanism was analyzed. The results show that the accident point was located at the reducer joint upstream of the electric control valve. The actual flow rate of the desuperheating water had long been higher than the design value, averaging 21 t/h and reaching a maximum of 35 t/h.The flow velocity on the small-diameter side reached up to 31.38 m/s,with a Reynolds number of 3.99×10⁶,indicating a strong tur-bulent flow state. The high-speed water flow formed recirculation, secondary flow, and vortex struc-tures in the reducer transition zone, leading to continuous erosion wear at the small-diameter outlet and the transition arc area, ultimately causing wall thinning and bursting.Accordingly,improve-ment measures such as material upgrading, structural optimization, wall thickness monitoring, and operational adjustment were proposed. After the modification, the operational stability of the system was significantly improved. The research results can provide a reference for the design and safe op-eration of reducer components in high-parameter desuperheating water systems.关键词
