Stage-Differentiation Treatment of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis:Addressing Depression,Mass,and Deficiency

Abstract
Hashimoto's thyroiditis falls under the category of"goiter disease"in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),with the core pathogenesis being a complex interplay of"depression,mass,and deficiency",each manifesting more prominently at different stages of the disease."Depression"is the primary pathological mechanism in the early stage of Hashimoto's thyroiditis and its hyperthyroid phase.The disease arises from"depression",and the treatment should employ Changyu Xiaoyao decoction to relieve stagnation and quell pathogenic fire."Mass"is the key pathological mechanism in the stable phase of Hashimoto's thyroiditis,acting as a persistent shackle that prolongs the condition.Poke Xiaoying decoction is recommended to dissolve adhesions and break up encysted nodules."Deficiency"serves as the foundational pathological mechanism in the hypothyroidism phase of Hashimoto's thyroiditis,determining the disease's onset and outcome.Futu Fujian decoction is prescribed to restore balance and replenish visceral deficiency.By tailoring treatments to each stage with syndrome differentiation,the clinical approach becomes systematic and highly effective,yielding rapid and pronounced results.关键词
