Abstract
Objective To explore the current status, dilemmas, and optimization paths of the dissemination of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)in ASEAN countries,so as to provide references for the high-quality dissemination of TCM in ASEAN countries and the TCM exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN.Methods Adopting a research method dominated by questionnaires and supplemented by in-depth interviews, this study investigated 74 foreign TCM physicians participating in 2024 ASEAN TCM International Talent Training Program of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. The respondents came from five ASEAN countries, including Malaysia,Thailand,Singapore,Indonesia, and the Philippines.Quantitative data collected by questionnaires were statistically analyzed, and the research conclusions were formed combined with the in-depth interview results of partial respondents. Results The results showed that TCM has formed a certain dissemination foundation in ASEAN countries, while it faces three core challenges, namely deep cultural cognitive barriers, external institutional and market barriers, and internal capability and communication challenges.Respondents generally recognized a series of optimization strategies, including strengthening cooperation with local medical institutions, cooperating with governments to formulate relevant policies, carrying out public health education activities, and promoting the localization, adaptation and integration of TCM culture. Conclusion The dissemination of TCM in ASEAN countries faces both opportunities and challenges. It is necessary to integrate four major resources including medical care, system, education and culture to break through the dissemination bottlenecks.关键词
