Abstract

By taking a deep-sea slurry pump with a combined structure of a spiral mixed-flow impeller and diffuser guide vanes as the research object,the computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method(CFD-DEM)coupling method was used to qualitatively and quantitatively analyze the motion law and non-uniform distribution characteristics of particles in the pump under different inflow boundary conditions.The results show that tip clearance leakage and impeller inlet pre-swirl are the main causes of particle deposition at the impeller inlet under low flow conditions.In addition,the variation in the number of particles inside the pump can be divided into two stages:the growth period and the stable period.Under different flow rates,the change trend of the number of particles inside the pump is consistent,and the flow of particles exhibits dynamic non-uniformity in the impeller and dif-fusers.With increasing flow rate,the particle concentration region within the impeller shifts from the pressure surface toward the suction surface of the blade.Under both design and over-design conditions,the periodic non-uniform particle flow phenomenon of particles within the impeller becomes more pro-nounced.Compared to the impeller passage,particles within the diffuser predominantly flow along the working pressure surface and possesses a higher degree of non-uniformity.Except at the high-flow-rate condition,the degree of non-uniform flow in the diffuser is negatively correlated with the flow rate.
