Abstract

The IDD(INDETERMINATE DOMAIN)family,a plant-specific group of transcription fac-tors,plays crucial roles in regulating organ formation and tissue development.Its members have been identified in numerous plant species,but researches on the IDD gene family in pepper(Capsicum annuum L.)remain unreported.This study utilized the genome of the pepper cultivar'Zunla-1'to identify the IDD family genes,resulting in the discovery of 20 CaIDD genes distributed on 10 pepper chromosomes.The comprehensive bioin-formatic analyses including assessments of protein physicochemical properties,conserved motifs,phylogenetic relationships,gene structures,collinearity,and promoter cis-acting elements were conducted.The results showed that the CaIDD family proteins contained 380 to 693 amino acids with the molecular weight of 43.0 to 76.2 kDa,and they were all unstable alkaline hydrophilic proteins located in nucleus.The CaIDD family mem-bers could be classified into seven subgroups.Seven of the identified CaIDDs were lack of untranslated regions(UTRs).Promoter analysis revealed that CaIDDs were likely involved in light response,phytohormone signa-ling,stress responses,and growth and development in pepper.Collinearity analysis indicated that the CaIDD gene family had undergone expansion and purifying selection.Real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR analysis of selected CaIDD genes demonstrated that most tested members exhibit tissue-specific expression patterns dur-ing pepper fruit development,albeit with distinct expression trends among different genes.These findings could provide a theoretical foundation for future investigations on the functions and regulatory mechanisms of IDD genes in pepper fruit development.
