Scalable Architecture Design of FPGA Multi-serial Port Ethernet Adapter

Abstract
To address the limitations of traditional serial-to-Ethernet adapters-such as poor scalability,insufficient heterogeneous baud rate compatibility,and unreliable high-load transmission-this paper presents an FPGA-based dynamically reconfigurable multi-channel serial-Ethernet adapter system.Through hardware architecture and soft-ware algorithm optimizations,the system integrates a parallel processing engine for heterogeneous baud rates,enab-ling seamless compatibility with RS232,RS485,USB-Type-C,and other serial protocols while supporting simultane-ous multi-device connections at independent baud rates.The architecture employs a state machine polling control mechanism combined with FIFO cross-clock-domain buffering to ensure efficient real-time data management and re-solve the synchronization problem of data transmission across different clock domains.Further enhanced by byte packetization and timeout polling strategies,the system significantly improves fault tolerance and accuracy under high-load conditions.Experimental results demonstrate 100%,with an average transmission delay of 0.085 ms per byte;compared to traditional solutions,the transmission delay per byte has been reduced by 1.2 ms,significantly im-proving data transmission efficiency.Under high load conditions,the transmission accuracy of the system still rea-ches 99.886%,and there is no packet loss phenomenon,fully demonstrating the stability and reliability of the sys-tem in high-intensity data transmission.关键词
