Abstract

With the rapid advancement of a new wave of scientific and technological revolution as well as industrial transformation,frontier research in mechanics is increasingly characterized by deep interdisciplinary integration,multi-scale coupling,and the fusion of data-driven approaches with mechanistic modeling.The traditional teaching mode of Elasticity Mechanics,which mainly focuses on solving classical engineering problems,can no longer satisfy the requirements for cultivating top-notch mechanics talents capable of conducting frontier scientific research.To address current problems in Elasticity Mechanics education,including excessive emphasis on problem-solving over modeling,special cases over theoretical frameworks,and classical engineering applications over interdisciplinary frontier research,this paper explores teaching reform of the Elasticity Mechanics course based on the cultivation of top-notch mechanics talents at Northwestern Polytechnical University.The reform measures include strengthening the training of mathematical and physical foundations,reconstructing the teaching sequence of the theoretical framework of elasticity,and introducing research-oriented practical projects related to frontier scientific problems.By integrating scientific problem abstraction,theoretical modeling ability cultivation,and research-teaching integration into course instruction,a teaching system of Elasticity Mechanics oriented toward frontier scientific research is established.Practice shows that the reform helps improve students'understanding of theoretical frameworks,interdisciplinary problem-analysis ability,and awareness of conducting scientific research using mechanics approaches,thereby providing new insights into the cultivation of top-notch talents in mechanics.
