Cycle Time Calculation for Part Processing Based on CNC Machining Centers

Abstract
The machining cycle time is a key indicator for evaluating the production efficiency of CNC machining centers and for formulating production plans,and its calculation accuracy directly affects capacity assessment and process optimization.To address the issue of insufficient accuracy in cycle time calculation for five-axis CNC machining centers,a NAS standard part with multiple typical machining features is selected,a complete process route and tool parameters is designed,and experiments on a bridge-type five-axis cradle machining center of Jugang Precision are conducted.Three methods are adopted to calculate the cycle time.Firstly,tool paths is generated using UG software to obtain cutting time and non-cutting time.Secondly,a cycle time table combined with cutting parameters such as spindle speed and feed rate is used to calculate the time of each operation step.Thirdly,NC codes are imported into Siemens virtual simulation software for dynamic simulation based on machine system parameters.The results show that the cycle time table has the lowest accuracy,with a maximum error of 6.16%,UG simulation achieves a balance between accuracy and applicability,while Siemens simulation yields the smallest error of 0.66%but has limited applicability.Furthermore,the errors in drilling and tapping operations are significantly greater than those in milling operations.The study provides a systematic comparative analysis and quantitative evidence for cycle time prediction in CNC machining centers,offering support for production planning and process optimization.关键词
