Abstract
Stroke is the second leading cause of death and the third leading cause of disability globally, with a continuously rising disease burden. In May 2026,the 79th World Health Assembly adopted the first stroke-specific resolution—reducing the burden of stroke:strengthening prevention, acute care, rehabilitation and health system readiness.China bears one of the heaviest stroke burdens worldwide, and faces persistent challenges in risk factor control, equitable acute care,full-course management, and primary healthcare resilience. This article systematically interprets the resolution's core content and global health governance implications, analyzes the current status and bottlenecks in stroke prevention and treatment in China, and proposes an implementation pathway characterized by"prevention advancement, emergency acceleration, rehabilitation extension, system strengthening, and digital empowerment."Future efforts should consolidate primary prevention and opportunistic screening, promote the integrated prevention and treatment of stroke and brain health conditions such as cognitive impairment, optimize regional coordinated emergency networks, strengthen the continuous service chain of rehabilitation and secondary prevention, establish a national cerebrovascular disease surveillance and registry system, and enhance digital technology and multi-sectoral collaboration, thereby accelerating the transition toward full-course health management and contributing China's action to global stroke prevention and control.关键词
