Experience and mid-term outcomes of robot-assisted laparoscopic buccal mucosa graft ureteroplasty for complex ureteral strictures(with surgical video)

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the feasibility,safety,and efficacy of robot-assisted laparoscopic buccal mucosal graft(BMG)ur eteroplasty in the treatment of complex ureteral stricture.Methods:Clinical data of 19 patients with ureteral stricture who underwent robot-assisted laparoscopic BMG ureteroplasty at the Department of Urology,Peking University First Hospital from January 2024 to October 2025 were prospectively collected.Intraoperative parameters,postoperative complications,and follow-up outcomes were recorded a nd analyzed.Results:Among the 19 patients,13 had strictures in the upper ureter and 6 at the ureteropelvic junction,with a stricture length of(3.3±1.6)cm(range 0.5-6.0 cm).The preoperative median serum creatinine was 88.3(80.2,111.7)μmol/L,and 12 patients had a history of failed ureteral reconstruction surgery.All procedures were completed using the Kangduo Robot®endoscopic surgical system.The harvested BMG length was(3.6±1.2)cm(range 1.5-6.0 cm),with a median width of 1.5(1.0,1.5)cm.The median operative time was 190.0(175.0,207.0)min,median intraoperative blood loss was 20.0(20.0,30.0)mL,and median postoperative length of hospital stay was 5(4.0,7.0)days.The follow-up duration was(17.3±5.6)months(range 8-27 months).No stricture recurrence was observed in any of the 19 patients,yielding an overall success rate of 100.0%.Postoperatively,2 patients developed urinary tract infection and 2 experienced oral complications within one month after surgery.No other postoperative or long-term adverse events were reported in the remaining p atients.Conclusion:Robot-assisted laparoscopic BMG ureteroplasty has favorable outcomes for complex ureteral stricture,with no severe complications,and shows promising feasibility,safety,and efficacy.关键词
