Efficacy of dual mini-port video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery in the treatment of primary palmar hyperhidrosis and its impact on postoperative pain and complications

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the efficacy of dual mini-port video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery(VATS)in the treatment of primary palmar hyperhidrosis(PPH)and its impact on postoperative pain and complications.Methods:80 PPH patients who were treated at Fuyang People's Hospital from January 2020 to May 2025 were enrolled.They were divided into the single-port group(n=40,undergoing single-port VATS)and the dual-port group(n=40,undergoing dual mini-port VATS)using the random number table method.The perioperative indicators(operative time,intraoperative blood loss,length of hospital stay),pain levels at 1,2,and 3 days postoperatively[visual analogue scale(VAS)scores],compensatory sweating status,postoperative complications,and recurrence within 3 months postoperatively were compared between the two groups.Results:There were no statistically significant differences in operative time,intraoperative blood loss,or length of hospital stay between the two groups(P>0.05).The VAS scores in both groups decreased significantly within 3 days after surgery(P<0.05),and the VAS scores in the dual-port group were significantly lower than those in the single-port group at each time point(P<0.05).No statistically significant differences were observed in the severity or distribution of compensatory sweating between the two groups(P>0.05).Within 3 months postoperatively,the incidence of complications in the dual-port group was significantly lower than that in the single-port group(5.00%vs.20.00%,P<0.05),and no recurrence occurred in either group.Conclusion:Both single-port VATS and dual mini-port VATS are effective in treating PPH,with comparable perioperative indicators and compensatory sweating outcomes.However,dual mini-port VATS has greater advantages in reducing postoperative pain and complications.关键词
