Effect of hand rehabilitation robot-assisted training combined with Chinese herbal fumigation on rehabilitation outcomes in patients with hemiplegia after cerebral infarction

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the effects of hand rehabilitation robot-assisted training combined with Chinese herbal fumigation on rehabilitation outcomes in patients with hemiplegia after cerebral infarction.Methods:136 patients with hemiplegia after cerebral infarction who were treated at the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University from January 2023 to January 2025 were enrolled.They were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group using a random number table,with 68 cases in each group.The control group received conventional rehabilitation interventions,while the observation group received hand rehabilitation robot-assisted training combined with Chinese herbal fumigation in addition to conventional rehabilitation interventions.Both groups received a 4-week intervention.Upper limb motor function[Fugl-Meyer assessment for upper extremity(FMA-UE)score],hand function[maximum flexion angle,maximum extension angle,and action research arm test(ARAT)score],muscle tone[modified Ashworth scale(MAS)score],and activities of daily living[modified Barthel index(MBI)]were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention.Intervention satisfaction was also recorded for both groups.Results:After intervention,FMA-UE scores,ARAT scores,and MBI scores increased in both groups compared with that before intervention,and they were significantly higher in the observation group than the control group(P<0.05).The maximum flexion angle and maximum extension angle of hand increased in both groups compared with that before intervention,with the observation group showing greater angles than the control group(P<0.05).MAS scores decreased in both groups compared with that before intervention,and the observation group had significantly lower scores than the control group(P<0.05).Intervention satisfaction in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Hand rehabilitation robot-assisted training combined with Chinese herbal fumigation can effectively improve upper limb and hand motor function,reduce muscle tone,enhance activities of daily living,and increase patient satisfaction with the intervention in patients with hemiplegia after cerebral infarction.关键词
