Abstract
Objective To observe the impact of abdominal four-needle acupuncture combined with the liver-soothing spleen-tonifying prescription on clinical symptoms,stool consistency,quality of life(QOL),and intestinal inflammation levels in treating patients with irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea(IBS-D).Method Eighty-two eligible patients with IBS-D were recruited and divided into a control group and an observation group using a random number table,with 41 cases per group.The control group orally took the liver-soothing spleen-tonifying prescription,and the observation group additionally received abdominal four-needle acupuncture treatment.Changes in the scores of irritable bowel syndrome severity scoring system(IBS-SSS),traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptoms,irritable bowel syndrome quality of life questionnaire(IBS-QOL),irritable bowel syndrome defecation state questionnaire(IBS-DSQ),and fecal morphology were observed,as well as the levels of serum interleukin-6(IL-6),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT),and fecal calprotectin.The adverse reactions were also compared between the two groups.Result After treatment,the scores of IBS-SSS,TCM symptoms,IBS-QOL,IBS-DSQ,and fecal morphology and the levels of serum IL-6,TNF-α,5-HT,and fecal calprotectin decreased in both groups(P＜0.05),and were lower in the observation group than in the control group(P＜0.05);the post-treatment differences in these outcome measures were greater in the observation group than in the control group(P＜0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P＞0.05).Conclusion Integrating the abdominal four-needle acupuncture treatment with the liver-soothing spleen-tonifying prescription can mitigate clinical symptoms,improve fecal consistency and morphology,enhance quality of life,and inhibit intestinal inflammation in treating IBS-D.关键词
