Investigation and Promotion Pathways of Indocalamus Leaf Industry in Hunan Province

Abstract
Indocalamus spp.is a kind of leaf used bamboo species.Hunan is one of the core distribution areas of Indocalamus nationwide,and however no systematic review has been conducted for the resource stock and industry development pattern.The paper employs the methods of literature review and field investigation to systematically examine the Indocalamus resources stock in Hunan,analyzes the current state of its leaf processing and utilization and integrated cultural-tourism development,and identifies the key factors restraining the upgrading of the Indocalamus industry.Targeted recommendations for its development are proposed.The results show that nine species of Indocalamus are distributed across Hunan province,covering a total area of 47 600 ha,but only 29.03%of the resources are currently utilized.There are 225 enterprises engaged in Indocalamus leaf processing,generating an annual output value of 1.016 billion CNY and export earnings of 146 million CNY,and their processing capacity has grown at an average annual rate of 17.14%over the past five years.However,the business model of tourism and culture is still in the stage of"ecological sightseeing and shallow experience".The Indocalamus leaf industry is challenged by poor conditions for harvesting and transportation,low value-addition along the industrial chain,and inadequate culture-tourism integration.Based on these findings,the study proposes countermeasures for the industry development in terms of policy,finance,technology and brand,with the aim of providing references for the high-quality and sustainable development of the Indocalamus resources in Hunan.关键词
