Abstract
In accordance with the outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan,China will expand high-quality undergraduate enrollment in an orderly manner,prioritizing majors in science,engineering,agriculture and medicine.This paper conducts a comprehensive analysis of the current enrollment expansion alongside the reform to break the credential-only evaluation and the development of higher education amid the forthcoming low-fertility era.It identifies that the ongoing expansion,driven largely by the pursuit of academic credentials,may exacerbate credential inflation and overqualification.The study advocates determining enrollment scales with a quality-oriented approach,making forward-looking plans for higher education to navigate demographic peaks and adapt to the low-fertility era,so as to foster a rational higher education structure.关键词
