摘要
Abstract
This paper reports a rare case of adult mixed intestinal infection caused by Trichuris trichiura(whip-worm)and Chilomastix mesnili.The patient was a 67-year-old female farmer who was admitted to the hospital due to acute abdominal pain and diarrhea.Imaging examination suggested the presence of cholecystitis and cholelithiasis.During the treatment of biliary tract diseases,routine fecal microscopy examination unexpectedly revealed numerous motile trophozoites,which were subsequently confirmed as Chilomastix mesnili through laboratory analysis.Further examination revealed a small number of characteristic whipworm eggs.The patient reported that she had been engaged in farming for a long time and had a habit of eating raw food.Final diagnosis:① cholecystolithiasis with acute suppurative cholecystitis;② trichuriasis;③ intestinal Chilomastix mesnili infection.After laparoscopic cholecystectomy and albendazole deworming treatment,the patient's digestive symptoms improved significantly,and she reported normal fecal routine at the 3-month follow-up after surgery.This case suggests that in clinical practice,mixed parasitic infection may be concealed by more significant organic diseases.Laboratory personnel should be alert to co-infected pathogens when identifying single parasite,with particular emphasis on enhancing the detection of easily overlooked protozoa(such as Chilomastix mesnili).Accurate morphological identification is crucial for identifying such mixed infections.关键词
