Interaction between influenza virus and ferroptosis and the anti-influenza activity of ferroptosis inhibitors
摘要
Abstract
Influenza virus(IFV)causes a considerable health and economic burden globally every year,and a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of its pathogenic mechanism is still needed.IFV causes different types of cell death,including apoptosis,necrosis and ferroptosis.Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent cell death pathway charac-terized by lipid peroxidation.It plays a unique role in regulating the antioxidant defense system and is potentially implicated in inflammatory responses.IFV induces ferroptosis by altering iron homeostasis,enhancing the accumula-tion of reactive oxygen species,and promoting lipid peroxidation.This article focuses on the impact of IFV infection on activation of the ferroptosis pathway and the current status of ferroptosis inhibitors as candidate drugs for anti-IFV therapy,providing new insights for related research and a reference for the development of new antiviral strategies.关键词
