Fees in Psychological Counseling:Theoretical Controversies and Practical Strategies

Abstract
Fees are not just a simple part of the psychological counseling process;they will directly affect outcomes.However,there has been limited attention from current domestic research and practice.This article focuses on theoretical lineage and provides a systematic analysis of fee-related problems.Aperspective including classical psychoanalysis,object relations theory,and the intersubjectivity indicates that the impact of fees on counseling outcomes depends on the mutual agreement between counselor and client.An analysis based on the Marx-Freud tradition further reveals that the key to solv-ing fee issues requires counselors to detect and address the alienation rendered by the symbolic structure of money.More-over,humanistic psychology provides tools for handling fees;cognitive dissonance theory provides the theoretical foundation for researching the conditions and valence of fee effects empirically;and general systems theory supplies an analytical framework for exploring practical norms in different professional fields.Future research must delve deeply into local clinical practice contextto apply and test these Western theories,bringing the issue of fees back from a forgotten corner to the center of academy and practice.关键词
