Application and effect evaluation of a novel anti-reflux sputum collection nursing bag in the prevention of Hospital-Acquired pneumonia in patients with tracheotomy

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of a novel anti-reflux sputum collection nursing bag(hereinafter referred to as the"nursing bag")in patients with tracheostomy,assess its preventive effect against hospital-acquired pneumonia(HAP),and provide evidence for clinical airway infection prevention and control strategies.Methods A total of 106 patients with tracheostomy admitted from October 2023 to December 2024 were enrolled and divided into an experimental group and a control group according to the admission sequence of patients',with 53 cases in each group.Different nursing intervention was carried out.The experimental group received nursing care with the nursing bag connected to the tracheal cannula,while the control group received routine coverage of the tracheostomy opening with sterile gauze.The two groups were compared in terms of nosocomial respiratory infection-related indicators(positive rate of sputum bacterial culture,detection rate of multidrug-resistant organisms[MDRO],and HAP incidence),surrounding environmental pollution status,sputum viscosity,and oxygen saturation(SpO2)during hospitalization.Results During hospitalization,the positive rate of sputum bacterial culture,MDRO detec-tion rate,and HAP incidence in the experimental group were 33.96%,5.66%,and 9.43%,respectively,which were significantly lower than those in the control group(69.81%,20.75%,and 35.85%,all P<0.05).The degree of surrounding environmental pollution and the proportion of grade Ⅱ and Ⅲ viscous sputum in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group(all P<0.05).No significant difference in SpO2 was observed between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The novel anti-reflux sputum collection nursing bag enables closed sputum collection,effectively blocks pathogen transmission via sputum spillover,reduces the risk of nosocomial infection,and provides bidirectional protection for both patients and healthcare workers,warranting its promotion and application in clinical nursing practice.关键词
