Latent profiles and symptom network characteristics of neglect among rural preschool children in the Hunan-Hubei-Chongqing-Guizhou border region

Abstract
Objective:To identify the latent profiles and associated factors of neglect among rural preschool children in therural areas of Hunan-Hubei-Chongqing-Guizhou border region,and to analyze the symptom network structure of different profiles.Methods:A total of 1,362 primary caregivers of preschool children were selected by cluster random sampling from March to June 2024.Latent Profile Analysis was used to identify subtypes of neg-lect.Chi-square tests were conducted to compare group differences,and multivariate logistic regression was per-formed to analyze associated factors.Network analysis was carried out for each profile,with partial correlation net-works estimated using the EBICglasso method and stability assessed.Results:Three neglect profiles were identified:low neglect(6.1％),moderate neglect(47.8％),and high neglect(46.1％).Significant differences were observed across profiles insex,age,ethnicity,parental education level,left-behind status,living conditions,and household in-come(Ps＜0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that being an ethnic minority,being male,low maternal edu-cation level,and left-behind experience increased the risk of belonging to the high-neglect group,while three-gener-ation cohabitation,having an independent room,and higher income were protective factors.Network analysis re-vealedthat educational neglect was the core symptom in the high and moderate neglect groups,whereas emotional neglect was the core symptom in the low neglect group.The network stability of the high and moderate neglect groups was satisfactory but relatively weak in the low-neglect group.Conclusion:Rural preschool children in the Hunan-Hubei-Chongqing-Guizhou borderregion exhibits three distinct neglect profiles with different core symptom structure.Targeted and stratified intervention strategies should be developed according to neglect profile characteris-tics.关键词
