A latent profile analysis of rest intolerance among Chinese college students and its relationship with cultural values

Abstract
Objective:To identify the latent profiles of rest intolerance among Chinese college students and explore their associations with cultural values.Methods:A total of 550 students completed the Rest Intolerance Scale(RIS)and Individualism-Collectivism Scale(ICS).Latent profile analysis(LPA)was performed on RIS scores,and multivariate analysis of variance(MANOVA)was used to compare the scores on the four ICS dimen-sions across different latent profiles of rest intolerance.Results:Three latent profiles of rest intolerance were identi-fied:harmonized rest pattern(26％),balanced rest pattern(49％),and constrained rest pattern(25％).MANOVA results indicated that individuals in the constrained rest pattern scored highest on vertical individualism and vertical collectivism,those in the harmonized rest pattern scored highest on horizontal collectivism,and those in the balanced rest pattern scored lowest on horizontal individualism(Ps＜0.05).Conclusion:Rest intolerance among college students exhibits distinct latent profiles,and different profilesare associated with different cultural value orientations.关键词
