Effect of modified oral exercise training on trismus in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma undergoing radiotherapy

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effect of modified oral exercise training on trismus in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma undergoing radiotherapy.Methods A total of 200 nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients admitted to Xuzhou Central Hospital from January 2022 to December 2024 were selected as the research subjects.Both groups received radiotherapy.The control group received routine care,and the observation group received modified oral exercise training.Both groups received 6 months of nursing care.The degree of trismus,Exercise of Self-Care Agency(ESCA)scores,and Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30(QLQ-C30)scores were compared between the two groups.Results After 3 and 6 months of intervention,the degree of trismus in the observation group was lower than that in the control group,and the scores of ESCA and QLQ-C30 in all aspects in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions The modified oral movement training exercises can alleviate the severity of trismus for patients undergoing radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma,thereby improving their quality of life and self-care ability.关键词
