The Transformation and Reconstruction of Archaeology in Popular Science Picture Books:A Review of Daddy's Archaeology Notebook

Abstract
Popular science picture books on archaeology are characterized by interdisciplinary integration and convergence of multiple values,serving as future-oriented science communication and public archaeology practices for children and adolescents.Daddy's Archaeology Notebook,compiled and illustrated by Shanghai Museum,takes the archaeology of the Qinglong Town Site as its theme.Based on a"comprehensive archaeological model",it progressively translates archaeological records from multiple dimensions—including excavation data and exhibition materials—into this archaeological picture book.This paper interprets its compilation logic and popular science elements by analyzing scene transitions,events,knowledge points and supplementary page designs,and evaluates the effect of its integrated expression of science and art by examining the styles,concepts and methods of its narration,text and illustrations.Rooted in the core values of archaeology—scientific empiricism and seeing humanity through artifacts—the picture book effectively reconstructs archaeological stories and disseminates archaeological science.关键词
