Analyzing the"Liver-Heart-Vessel"Axis:Exploring the Therapeutic Strategy of Liver Regulation in Preventing and Treating Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Diseases

Abstract
Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease(ASCVD)refers to a spectrum of cardiovascular disorders caused by atherosclerosis,and the preventive and therapeutic strategies targeting this condition have been continuously refined in clinical practice.The holistic perspective of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)is gaining recognition within the contemporary Biopsychosocial Model of medical diagnosis and treatment.Among TCM theories,the doctrine that"the heart governs the mind and controls the blood vessels"delineates the physiological and pathological mechanisms underlying the interactive regulation between psychological states and cardiovascular function,aligning with the principles of Psychocardiology.ASCVD falls under the category of"heart-vessel disorders"in TCM and is closely associated with the liver.The liver and heart are intimately connected in terms of emotional regulation,the mutual interaction of Qi and blood,and the modulation of blood vessels.This paper proposes the"liver-heart-vessel"axis as the pathological transmission chain underlying ASCVD.It systematically elucidates the pathogenic evolution described as"smooth liver Qi leads to harmonious heart Qi,while stagnated liver Qi results in deficient heart Qi",along with the corresponding diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.Furthermore,it explores the theoretical rationale for applying liver-regulating method in the prevention and treatment of ASCVD,aiming to provide a theoretical foundation for optimizing integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine approaches to managing ASCVD.关键词
