Artificial intelligence and the optimization of traditional industries:mechanisms, challenges, and policy implications
摘要
Abstract
Against the backdrop of a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, optimizing and upgrading traditional industries through artificial intelligence(AI)has become an important issue in advancing a modern industrial system. This paper analyzes the economic logic through which AI empowers traditional industries, focusing on internal mechanisms, practical challenges, and policy directions. The analysis suggests that AI reshapes the operation of traditional industries by influencing production organization, factor allocation, and the level of industrial coordination, thereby altering their modes of operation and paths of efficiency improvement. However, the deeper application of AI in traditional industries remains constrained by incomplete data factor allocation, shortages of composite-skilled labor, and limited adaptation to industrial scenarios. In response, this paper argues that policy priorities should shift from merely promoting technology adoption toward improving the conditions under which AI is integrated into traditional industries. This includes strengthening data infrastructure and governance frameworks, enhancing public services and skill supply oriented toward industrial applications, and optimizing institutional environments and incentive mechanisms,so as to enable AI to more effectively contribute to improvements in operational efficiency and coordination within traditional industries.关键词
