Effects of Different Proportions of Garlic Stalk Silage Replacing Corn Stalk Silage on the Growth Performance and Economic Benefits of Jining Grey Goats

Abstract
[Objective]This study aimed to investigate the effects of different proportions of garlic stalk silage replacing corn stalk silage on the growth performance and economic benefits of Jining grey sheep.[Methods]The experiment started in September and was conducted in Jinxiang County,Shandong Province.Sixty male Jining grey sheep around 6 months old were randomly divided into 4 groups,with 3 replicates in each group and 5 sheep in each replicate.Sheep in the control group were fed the basal diet daily,while groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,and Ⅲ were fed with garlic stalk silage replacing corn stalk silage at 25.00%,50.00%,and 75.00%,respectively.All groups were fed a total mixed ration,and the feeding period was 98 days(including a 7-day pre-trial period and a 91-day formal trial period).[Results]The results showed that different proportions of garlic stalk silage replacing corn stalk silage could significantly increase the average daily gain(P<0.05)and significantly reduce the feed-to-gain ratio(P<0.05)of Jining grey sheep,while the average daily feed intake did not show significant differences(P>0.05).From day 1 to 42,the best average daily incomes for the control group,group Ⅰ,group Ⅱ,and group Ⅲ were 1.44,1.64,2.30 and 1.67 CNY/(sheep·day),respectively.[Conclusion]Replacing corn stalk silage with garlic stalk silage could enhance the average daily gain and reduce the feed-to-gain ratio,with better growth performance and economic benefits observed during days 1 to 42.Under the conditions of this experiment,the 50.00%replacement of corn stalk silage with garlic stalk silage had the best growth performance and economic benefits.关键词
