The Constructing-and-Concealing Function of User Agreements in Digital Exploitation:A Political Economy Critique within the Platform Economy

Abstract
The rise of the platform economy has transformed production and social life while spawning the risk of digital ex-ploitation.User agreements,though ostensibly neutral legal documents,in reality establish pro-platform institutional arrange-ments through formal consent,unilateral rule-making,and the obfuscation of labor relations,making them a key instrument of digital exploitation.While only the concealing function is visible at the surface,grounded-theory textual analysis reveals a core category:user agreements function as dual"constructing and concealing"institutional tools within digital exploitation.The study then identifies three typical forms of platform-based digital labor exploitation.Drawing on Marxist political economy,it further exposes the triple-layered effects of this dual function,at surface,intermediate,and essential levels,ultimately aimed at shaping user ideology.关键词
