Abstract
Guangdong Province is located on the coastal area of South China. Its special geographical location and monsoon climate lead to frequent floods and secondary geological disasters.Based on statistical data from 1950 to 2023,this study analyzes the spatiotemporal evolution of floods and secondary geological disasters in Guangdong Province. The results reveal a divergent trend:direct economic losses from floods show a rising trend, while the affected population shows a declining trend.Spatially,high-incidence flood areas are concentrated in the downstream basins of the Xijiang,Beijiang, and Dongjiang Rivers and the Pearl River Delta.Geological disasters are highly clustered in the mountainous areas of northern Guangdong, while the coastal areas of western Guangdong suffer the most severe losses due to frequent compound typhoon-related disasters.Extreme rainfall is the direct driver of annual disaster severity. The divergent trends in economic losses and affected population are driven by the interplay between socioeconomic development and enhanced disaster mitigation capabilities.关键词
