The Impact of Artificial Intelligence Development on Resilient City Construction

Abstract
As the global economy and China's development have entered deep waters where risks and opportunities coexist,exploring the driving mechanisms behind the construction of resilient cities is particularly critical for coordinating development and security and for achieving Chinese-style modernization.This paper constructs a logical framework of"technology empowerment→structural transformation→resilience enhancement"from the dual perspectives of industrial structure upgrading and diversification,and empirically tests it using panel data from Chinese cities.The findings reveal that artificial intelligence(AI)can effectively en-hance urban economic resilience.Mechanism analysis shows that the urban resilience effect of AI is primarily achieved by promoting both the upgrading and diversification of industrial structures,with the effect of industrial diversification being significantly greater than that of industrial structure upgrading.This implies that in the era of AI,the key to enhancing urban resilience is not about making an either-or choice between industrial specialization and diversification,but rather about forming a structurally complemen-tary pattern characterized by"upgrading as the leader and diversification as the foundation".Heterogeneity analysis indicates that the impact of AI on economic resilience is more pronounced in cities with higher administrative levels and better business environ-ments.Extended analysis finds that the urban resilience effect of AI also promotes collaborative innovation within urban agglomera-tions.This paper reveals the critical role of AI in the process of building resilient cities,providing important policy insights for ac-celerating the empowerment of urban governance by AI technology and reshaping the pattern of urban development in the era of AI.关键词
