Abstract
Objective To explore the clinical efficacy and safety of modified Yuebi and Banxia Decoction combined with conventional Western medicine in treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)in patients with the syndrome of phlegm-heat obstructing the lung. Methods A total of 86 COPD patients with the syndrome of phlegm-heat obstructing the lung treated in the Dejiang Minzu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2023 to January 2026 were included and randomly assigned into two groups(n=43)by the random number table method. The control group received conventional Western medicine treatment, while the observation group was additionally treated with modified Yuebi and Banxia Decoction. Both groups were treated for 14 consecutive days. The clinical efficacy, pulmonary function indicators[forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1),FEV1 as a percentage of predicted value(FEV1%pred),FEV1/forced vital capacity(FEV1/FVC)ratio,and maximal mid-expiratory flow(MMEF)],COPD Assessment Test(CAT),Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),and incidence of adverse events were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the observation group had higher total response rate,FEV1,FEV1%pred,FEV1/FVC ratio, and MMEF and lower CAT and PSQI than the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion For the patients with acute exacerbation of COPD due to phlegm-heat obstructing the lung, the combination of modified Yuebi and Banxia Decoction with conventional Western medicine treatment can more effectively improve clinical efficacy, pulmonary function, and quality of life, and has good safety, serving as an effective integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment plan.关键词
