摘要
Abstract
Currently, the predominantly incremental innovation path has severely constrained the pace of independent innovation in China's technology and industries. It remains to be tested whether the institutional opening-up resulting from the relaxation of foreign investment regulations in the service sector can spill over to the real industries, thereby influencing the breakthrough innovation of domestic manufacturing enterprises.Based on data on foreign investment in the service sector, listed manufacturing companies, and patents from 2002 to 2023,this study explores the impact of the relaxation of foreign investment regulations in the service sector on innovation and path-breaking of manufacturing enterprises.Research has found that the relaxation of foreign investment regulations in the service sector significantly enhances manufacturing innovation. The mechanism analysis verifies that the relaxation of foreign investment regulations in the service sector impacts manufacturing innovation through cost savings, human capital effects, technology spillover effects, and market competition effects. The impact of the relaxation of foreign investment regulations in the service sector on breakthroughs in the innovation path of the manufacturing industry is moderated by innovation efficiency and productivity.Enterprises with high innovation efficiency and low productivity are more inclined to pursue breakthrough innovation. To promote the positive impact of modern service industries on manufacturing innovation,we should accelerate the relaxation of foreign investment regulations in knowledge-intensive service sectors such as communication, commerce, technology, and finance, while continuously improving regional intellectual property protection and increasing enterprises'investment in technological factors.关键词
