Abstract
Log data is an important data source for understanding and maintaining software systems.However,the increasing volume of logs poses a significant challenge in terms of storage costs.General-purpose compression methods have limited effectiveness when applied to log data,making it imperative to research efficient compression techniques based on the characteristics of logs.By summarizing existing work,this paper divides the workflow of log compression methods into three stages:log file parsing,log data compression,and compressed data analysis.We provide a detailed analysis of how existing methods parse and transform log based on its characteristics in each stage.The processing strategies for each stage are summarized,and current issues as well as future research directions are discussed.关键词
